The first weekend of games in the Jefferson County Spring Tournament was cancelled due to several days of stormy weather and extensive rainfall, but the Jefferson ballfield was dry and well groomed for a set of three 7 inning contests last Saturday, 4/25.
In the first game, Johnson Creek squared off against the Helenville Rebels. After a single tally in the bottom of the first, the JC Pioneers racked up a 10 spot in the bottom of the second. (Somebody with a better memory can certainly correct me.) Thereafter pitching from both sides held their opponents scoreless. Again, if memory serves, The Rebels did manage to plate a couple runs near the end of the game.
Brats and burgers at the Jefferson ballpark were pretty tasty. Like all the amateur parks I’ve visited the food is plenty affordable.
Note to self: don’t forget your notebook. Your memory isn’t that good anymore.
