Jefferson played host to Utica for the first Thursday Home Talent League game of the season. If my information is right, both teams agreed to reschedule their mid-season contest because of a tournament conflict.
So, my wife and I headed over with the intention of getting a few photos while there was sufficient daylight. Even with a cloudless sky the best I could expect for a game with a 7:30 start time in May is a half hour of shooting. The game started about 15 minutes late and the sun dropped behind the clouds, so conditions were far less than optimal. By the end of the game, I only ended up with a couple dozen photos I was pleased with.
It was a nice evening for a ballgame nonetheless. My wife enjoyed a great hotdog and I got my customary brat and soda. For a May Thursday evening, the cloud was halfway decent.
After a scoreless top of the 1st, Jefferson got things started in the bottom of the frame with a walk that eventually game around to score on the only hit of the inning. A pair of runs in each of the next two innings gave the Blue Devils a comfortable 5-0 lead.
In the top of the 4th, Utica made the game interesting with a double, walk, a single and run scored, and another single before an out was recorded. First baseman, Peyton Soule then cleared the bases with a double to right before a pair of strikeouts ended the Association’s threat.
The gap again widened in the bottom half of the inning when Blue Devil Evan Anfang’s triple followed the two batters who were hit by pitch. By the end of inning the score was 7-4.
In the top of the 6th, Utica plated another run and had bases loaded before Jefferson smothered the threat with some sound defense. And that is how the 7 inning game, 7-5.
Included in the photos are a handful of nighttime drone photos. Enjoy.
