It took a few innings for the Cedarburg Mercs or host Slinger Stingers to get much offense going. In the fifth inning, Cedarburg stuck first with a pair of runs on a walk and a pair of singles. And, that would be a summary of the Mercs’ scoring for the day.
Slinger managed 9 hits throughout the contest and scored single runs in the 6th and 8th, and 3 runs sandwiched between in the 7th. For their single runs, the Stingers relied on a single-double sequence. In the three run 7th, runs were scored on a series of singles and a miscue by the Mercs defense.
Leadoff hitters for each team led their respective teams as Stingers secondbaseman, Mason Johnson, had three singles and two runs scored, and the Mercs centerfielder, Cade Jahns had a pair if singles. The Stinger’s Carter Tennies and Mercs’ Tyler YOung also had a pair of hits apiece.
