In the Fort Atkinson annual baseball tournament, the Rome Raiders squared off against the Utica Association for what would become a pitcher’s duel.
Utica scored a run in the bottom of the first, and that would be enough to secure a win. But, the win would not come easy.
In the middle innings, Rome threatened to even the score, but a play at the plate was ruled an out. I have a couple photos to show the play and I initially thought the runner was safe, but it looks as though the ump got the correct call as the catcher just barely made contact with the runner’s jersey.

Play at the plate

Closeup: Too close (and dark) to tell.
Utica added one more in the bottom of the sixth.
Final score: Utica 2 – Rome 0.
Tough night shooting. The sun was very bright and with Rome’s dark jersey’s, the camera struggles to capture light from both ends of the zone (pure white to pure dark). And, when shooting toward hte field, the boackground of the outfield was shade. But hey, there are some nice photos in the bunch.
