2026-06-28 Saukville Saints at Brownsville 49ers (RRL)

For the second game of the day, I cruised up to Brownsville to catch the game between the Saukville Saints and Brownsville 49ers. This was the second time in as many weeks I’ve seen the Saints, and the first time I’ve ever traveled to Brownsville. Its a nice community and ballfield just of Hwy 49.

On the way up the skies turned cloudy and The Weather Channel’s radar showed heavy rain to the west and north. I anticipated a rain shortened game, but it turns out the got the full game in.

Brownsville took an early lead by scoring a run in the bottom of the first after a pair of singles and an error.

In the top of the third, Saukville took a solid 3-1 lead after a Simon Bares leadoff double, then a single that was followed by a double by Luis Dupe. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, another single scored two runs. Another single put two on with nobody out, but the next three batters each struck out. In fact, that ended the Saints’ scoring for the day.

Brownsville evened the score in the bottom of the third on three errors and a single, and took the lead in the bottom of the 4th when the 49ers scored a run on a line drive out to left field.

In the top of the 5th, the Saints posed a threat after a leadoff double and a HBP, but a double play deflated hopes for more scoring. In the 6th, the Saints got two on, but a double play ended another threat.

In the bottom of the 6th, 49ers finished their scoring by plating three runs on a pair of singles and pair of doubles.

In the 7th, the Saints got a leadoff double but their was no further threat. In the 8th, the Saints continued their threats to score when a one out walk was followed by a pair of singles to load the bases. But, the timely hit was against missing.

And, that is how the game ended

Final Score: Brownsville 7 – Saukville 3

On the scoresheet, Saukville out performed the 49ers with 12 hits including 5 doubles compared to 11 Brownsville hits and two doubles. The difference was timing hitting and taking advantage of 6 Saints’ errors.

For the Saints, centerfielder Simon Bares had three hits including a double, and catcher Luis Dupe led all hitting with three hits (single & two doubles).

Interestingly, centerfielder (Turner Wagoner) and catcher (Easton Zangl) led the 49ers with two hits apiece.
