After watching Kenosha take on Waterford the night before, I wanted to get some better photos during the day so I scooted over to Rome to catch the first of two games for the day.
This was a high scoring affair as both teams combined for 31 hits and 25 runs; 49 batters reached base.
Things looked promising for the Raiders as they held a 3-2 lead after an inning. But that would not last as the Kings tallied one in the 2nd, and three in the 3rd and 4th. The Raiders countered with 2 in the bottom of the fourth, but if you are keeping track you’d know the score after four was 9-5.
Kenosha scored another run in the 5th and three in the 7th before Rome scored a single run in the bottom of the 7th. So, after 7, the Kings led the Raiders 13-6.
In the 8th, Kenosha added another run and Rome staged a comeback by plating 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th to narrow Kenosha’s lead, but one more Kenosha run in the ninth ended the game’s scoring with Kenosha on top.
Final score: Kenosha 15 – Rome 10.
Kenosha hitters were led by several players with a multi-hit game. Leadoff hitter JT Reed reached base four times on a single, double and pair of walks. He also scored three times. Third baseman Jack Ryan when 3-6 including a double and scored twice. Leftfielder, Jacob Schlesslman had two singles, a double and a walk, and scored three times and knocked in three. Kyler Rinehart also had a single, double, a run scored and one RBI.
Rome had its share of offense too and on any other day it would probably been enough to result in a victory. Leadoff batter Jet Weber scored twice and reached base on a single, double, and walk. Ryan Wenzel had a pair if singles, 2 RBIs and a run scored. Tyler Steinke had three deuces: 2 runs scored, 2 RBIs, and reached based twice (single and walk). DH Logan Johnson had three hits, two RBIs, and a run scored. Eric Burow had a single, double, three RBIs, and a run scored. Brett Krahn also had a pair of singles.
This game took me a long time to process. After pruning photos taken, I still had 240 photos I found worthy of sharing, but that is unrealistic. So, after further culling and editing, I whittled the collection down to ~130 photos. Enjoy.
