For this end of the season matchup, Dousman drove up Hwy 67 to take on Oconomowoc at Roosevelt Field. Bright sun and deep, dark shadows led to several hours of post processing.
Oconomowoc jumped out to a quick start in the bottom of the 1st and never looked back. After a one-out walk and a fielder’s choice, four straight singles brought in three runs.
Four more runs came across in the bottom on the 2nd. After a leadoff single, home run by Maddux Hibbard brought in the the first tow runs. With two outs, a single, triple and an error brought in two more.
In the top of the 3rd Dousman got on the board with three runs. With one out, a single and walk followed by a Cooper Pease double brought in two runs. Pease then scored when the next batter singled to left.
In the top of the 4th, the Frogs took advantage of a couple errors and scored two more to narrow the Oconomowoc’s lead to 7-5.
The Five-O’s extended their lead in the bottom of the 7th by adding one run on a lead-off solo homer by Bradyn Nelson, and another run on a pair of walks and a fielder’s choice.
Final score: Oconomowoc 9 – Dousman 5.
Cooper Pease and Elijah Shevey led the Frogs hit attack. Pease had a single and two doubles with two RBIs and a run scored. Shevey had a pair of singles, an RBI, and two runs scored.
The Five-O’s lineup offered a well balanced attack with five hitters getting at least two hits. Hibbard, batting in the two-spot, had a homer and two RBIs. Nelson and Alec Esenther each had two hits and two runs and knocked in one apiece. Karsen Rupnow had three hits including a triple, an RBI and two runs scored. The #9 batter, Aiden Foerstera also had a pair of singles and a run scored.
