2026-04-25 Rome (LOL) vs. Jefferson (HTL) @ Jefferson

Anyhow, a number of teams in the area have become favorites. Rome and Jefferson are two of them. Rome always shows an enthusiasm for the game and it is a ballpark favorite with great food and a strong sense of community. And, I enjoy Jefferson two. The bright uniforms are great, and I’ve watched some great ballgames at Fischer Field.

It took a bit to get the game started. Seemed like the umps were a little tardy, but I could be wrong there. Nonetheless, it was a good match with Jefferson pushing across the winning run in the nineth inning. Remember, this tournament was a set of 7 inning games, so it took a couple extra innings to determine a winner.

Rome started off the first with a run on three hits. Thereafter, things settled down. Admittedly, I cheated in sharing the final score. After 6 hours of baseball, chores at home were calling my name.

But, even with a handful of innings to watch and photograph, there was plenty of action. I thought it was funny that when starting lineups were announced it was pointed out that the Rome starting pitcher would not bat, but that proved not to be the case as Connor Keating managed a single in his first and only at bat.

On one hand, amateur games can be quite competitive, especially come playoff time. But, a lot of these guys know one another and it is evident when you watch them play. There are a couple photos that share that comradary.

Oh, I almost forgot. I finally had the chance to pull out my new drone to get aerial views of the game. The wind was quite strong and I was very satisfied with the drone’s stability, but I wasn’t going to risk taking it up too high.

  • Be sure to look at my “Terms and Conditions”.  I strive to promote baseball across the state and offer liberal use of my photos for non-profit situations.
  • To allow for faster page loading, these photos are not high resolution.
  • If you are interested in a high resolution photo, ask me.
  • Speaking of my photos, I probably have many more photos from the game than what I am sharing here. If you are looking for photos of a particular player, reach out to me and I’ll see what I have.

  • I attend games per my schedule.  Upon request, I can make myself available to shoot specific ballgames for, what I believe, is a reasonable fee.
  •  I am always interested in adding to my Wisconsin baseball memorabilia collection – especially schedules, programs, photos, RPPC (real-photo) postcards, etc. Other unique items are of interest too, especially pre-1970.
