2026-05-25 Fort Atkinson at Footville (HTL)

This was a great, evenly matched game!

Selfishly, from a photography standpoint, it could not get much better. Mid-day games often have high sun that cause deep shadows especially under baseball caps and helmets. With light overcast skies, I could shoot from both sides of the field and not worry about shadows. Postprocessing was so much easier.

Fort started the scoring in the 3rd with a single sandwiched between a pair of walks, and then a wild pitch. The Outlaws evened the score in the bottom half with a single, advancement to 2nd on a fly, and another single.

In the fifth, each team tallied a pair of runs. The Generals scored a pair on a triple with two runners on. Footville used three singles and a walk to get two across.

In the 7th, the Generals scored two more runs on a double followed by three singles. But, Footville didn’t match Fort as they came up with just a single run on a walk and a double.

Fort 5 – Footville 4.

Unlike dominating strikeout or walk totals from recent games I’ve watched, both teams had low walk and low strikeout totals. The ball was put in play, which gave me plenty of photo opportunities.

Hitting was similar too. The Generals managed 9 singles, a double, and a pair of triples. Chase Jarlsburg and Gavin Kanters each had two singles and an extra base hit. Kanters had a pair of RBIs resulting from his triple.

Footville mustered a dozen singles and one double by Mathias Treinen. Seven of nine players added to to the hit total. Left fielder Chris Jones stood out with 4 hits in five trips to the plate. Gabe Bockhop, Joe Cox, and Aaron Hatlevig each had a pair of hits.
