2026-05-31 East Troy at Rome (LOL)

In an evenly matched ballgame between the East Troy Express and Rome Raiders, THe Express came out on top after scoring a pair of runs in the ninth to defeat the Raiders 6-4.

Rome struck first with a single run on a pair of singles in the bottom of the third inning. It remained a tight contest until the top of the 6th when East Troy took advantage of pitching and fielding miscues by the Raiders defense. A walk started the inning and was followed up by a HBP and and error. A Sac Fly brought in the first run and a line drive single brought in the 2nd run. Another single an out later brought in the other two miscues. By the 7th inning stretch, East Troy was leading 4-1.

In the bottom of the 7th, the Raiders cut their deficit to 4-3 on a walk, a single, and a double. A pop up and strikeout would end the threat with the double stranded at 2nd base.

In the bottom of the 8th, Rome knotted the score on a pair of singles. But, East Troy would regain their leader and go on to victory by scoring two more runs in the top of the ninth. The Raiders ended their bid for a comeback after going down in order in the bottom of the ninth.

Pitching from both sides was fairly even. At the plate, East Troy pitcher and infielder, Alex Bruce led hitters by reaching base every at bat (3 singles and a walk) snf bstting in four. Catcher Mason Mitacek also added a pair of singles and a double. For the Raiders, Hunter Santos had a single and double with two RBIs, and Justin Jaquish and Logon Johnson also added a pair of singles.

Bright overcast skies made it an ideal afternoon to photograph a game. The food is very good and there is a strong sense of community at this and other Raiders’ ballgames.
