2026-06-06 Addison at Sheboygan (WSL)

For the second leg of my one-day roadtrip, I headed to Sheboygan for a Wisconsin State League (WSL) matchup between the Addison (IL) Braves and hometown A’s.

In it’s current form, today’s WSL was established in 1970 as a semi-professional league, of which Sheboygan was a charter member. They also compete in the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League (NEWBL).

Note: For several periods in the first half of the 1900s, the Wisconsin State League was an official Class D (minor league) baseball league.

A’s pitcher, Jared Reklaitis, earned his second win by tossing another complete game and yielding just three hits and no walks while stiking out 8 in the 7 inning contest. As of this game, Jared has given up one run (none earned) in 14 innings of work. Impressive!

Addison took an early lead in the 1st when Addison shortstop, Ben Greary reached base on an error and scored on a Hunter Johnson double. Another Braves batter reached on a HBP, but that would end Addison’s scoring.

For the next four innings, Braves batters would be put down in order. In the sixth, Pete Visconti led off with a single, but Sheboygan still only faced the minimum as the next batter reached on a fielder’s choice and then was thrown out attempting to steal 2nd.

In the 7th, Addison got their 3rd hit and a second batter reach on catcher’s interference. But, the threat ended when the final out was made on a Reklaitis strikeout.

Meanwhile, Sheboygan made the most of their 7 hits, three of which were extra base hits. Catcher Cal Casper led off the 3rd with a triple. A single scored the A’s first run, and a Calvin Keesler double put runners on 2nd and 3rd. A pair of ground outs wout plate the 2nd and 3rd runs.

In the fifth, Sheboygan’s Chase Hanselman led off the inning with a home run. The threat would continue with two more singles, but scoring was halted by a ground out and fly out.

Final score: Sheyboygan 4 – Addison 1.

The light for this game was excellent as it shifted between late afternoon sun and light overcast skies. Personally, I generally find gray uniforms lackluster, but Adisson’s unis include splashes of red and blue. Sheboygan was sporting their home whites with burgandy lettering. Its a rich combination.

Wildwood Park, home of the A’s since 1981, provides great vantage points for capturing the game.
