2026-06-09 Johnson Creek vs Albion at Fort Atkinson (HTL)

I was able to watch a weekday matchup between the Johnson Creek Pioneers and Albion Tigers because of a rainout of 6/5 games scheduled as part of the 2026 Fort Atkinson Generals Baseball Tournament.

At the end of this 7 inning affair, Johnson Creek advances in the winner’s bracket with a 5-2 victory.

Johnson Creek tallied single runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. These would be referred to as manufactured runs. In the second, the run scored on a walk, single, and fielder’s choice. In the 3rd, the Pioneers cored on a single, sac bunt, and another single.

Albion nibbled back in the 4th in similar fashion. They scored on a single that was preceded by a walk and stolen base.

Small ball continued in the top of the 5th when Creek scored another run on an error that resulted in a baserunner on 2nd, and then a single brought him home.

In the top of the 7th, Johnson Creek widened their lead by scoring two runs on a double, pair of walks, and a single that drove in two.

In the bottom half, Albion looked to make things interesting by starting with a double and pair of singles. One run scored. But a pop-up and a 6-4-3 double play ended the threat.

Pitching from both teams was decent. Creek’s line was 7IP-2R-5H-2BB-8SO while the Tigers battery tossed 7IP-5R-8H-4BB-6SO.

Albion hitters were led by infielder Tyler LaSchum with 2 hits, a run scored, and an RBI.

Johnson Creek top performers were Zach Holland with 2 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBIs. Catcher Tom Goeman added a pair of hits, and Bow Hartwig had a double and 2 runs scored.
