2026-06-19 Saukville at Hustisford (RRL)

Wow!

On this Friday evening, I opted to head up to Hustisford for a matchup with the Saukville Saints. With a 7:30 start and fairly thick, overcast skies, I didn’t have high hopes of catching too much, but I wanted to visit Hustisford nonetheless.

Funny thing, back at the end of the 2024 season, I was watching Lakes playoff baseball in West Bend, and I struck up a conversation with a guy sitting behind me. He shares a similar interest watching good baseball. We started talking about interesting ballfields (a topic of an offseason post, most likely) and he mentioned Hustisford. So, I made visiting the ballfield a 2025 goal. Goal achieved.

With drone in hand for the 2026 season, I wanted to capture this unique ballfield that has a hill behind home plate that extends downward on both basepaths. The hill is terraced to allow people to watch the game from above at the height of their choosing. Be sure to take a look at the accompanying photos.

Anyhow, it was a long workweek and I wanted to head home. So, after 4 innings, Hustisford held a low-scoring 1-0 lead. Boy oh boy, that is not how this game finished, however.

In the top of the 5th, Saukville scored a run to even the score. But, in the bottom half, Hustisford distanced themselves by scoring 3 runs and taking a 4-1 lead. The inning was capped off by a two-run double struck by Brody Thimm on the 11th pitch of his at bat.

In the bottom of the 6th, Hustisford took a commanding lead by double their score and taking an 8-1 lead heading into the 7th. After a leadoff double by Josh Hennen, the four runs were scored on an error – single – error – single series.

In the top of the 7th, Saukville added a run on a single followed by a double by Alex Elenteny. After Hustisford went down quietly in the bottom of the 7th, Saukville came up with a large deficit to overcome.

Here’s where the wheels on the bus fell off. After a leadoff walk, Saukville’s Dieter Pommer homered to left. With one out, Nathan Huntley clubbed a ball over the centerfield fence to make it an 8-5 score. The next batter was issued a walk followed by a strikeout. With two outs, five more runs scored on 4 consecutive walks, an error, another walk, and a hit-by pitch. The next batter struck out, but not before Saukville scored 8 and took a 10-8 lead.

In the bottom half of the frame, Hustisford put two on with two outs, but a line-out to the shortstop ended the threat.

In the top of the ninth, Saukville began the hit attack in similar fashion to the 8th. With one out, a walk was followed by a home run off the bat of Alex Enteny. A walk and a pair of singles added one more to the tally and gave the Saints a 13-8 advantage heading into the last of the 9th.

With two outs, The Astros got a double by Gavin Thimm, a single, and then another double by Tanner Galeazzi. A groundout to the pitcher ended the threat and the ballgame

Final score: Saukville 13 – Hustisford 10.

What a finish!!

As I indicated earlier in this post, the lighting for game was pretty poor and hence the reason why there are only a couple dozen photos from the 600+ taken.

  • If your photo(s) appears on this page and you want it removed, ask me.
  • Be sure to look at my “Terms and Conditions”.  I strive to promote baseball across the state and offer liberal use of my photos for personal use and non-profit situations.
  • To allow for faster page loading, the photos are not high resolution.
  • If you are interested in a high resolution photo, ask me.
  • I probably have many more photos from the game. If you are looking for photos of a particular player, ask me.

  • I attend games per my schedule.  Upon request, I can make myself available to shoot specific ballgames for a reasonable fee.
  • I am always interested in adding to my Wisconsin baseball memorabilia collection – especially schedules, programs, photos, RPPC (real-photo) postcards, etc. Other unique items are of interest too, especially pre-1970.
