On the return side of a weekend getaway to visit friends in Iowa, I planned to see a game further from home in Southwestern Wisconsin. Per recommendation from the Blanchardville coach on Thursday, I took his advice to see a game in Wiota. The game itself had a lopsided outcome, but I was very pleased with the decision to go to Wiota.
In the top of the first, Pine Bluff scored a run with a walk and a double to center by Mitch Marty. The Bluffers added another run in the 3rd when a sac fly brought in the first of two runners who reached base on errors. In the top of the 6th, two more runs scored when Pine Bluff started the inning with a walk, error, and single to load the bases. Amnother sacrifice fly and a fielders choice led to the two runs. The Bluffers added two more runs on a pair of singles, a pair of walks, and another single.
In total, Pine Bluff managed six runs on 8 hits and took advantage of three Indians errors and four walks. Ryan Vogel led Bluffers hitters by going 3-5 with a pair of singles and a double.
Meanwhile, Wiota managed 7 hits, but could not get any timely hitting. In the third, a double by Payton Sawdey and an error put runners on the corners with two outs, but could not push a run across. In the 4th Wiota again got two on with two outs but couldn’t get the timely hit.
Final score: Pine Bluff/Mt Horeb Bluffers 6 – Wiota Indians 0
