Part two of my personal tripleheader took me to Oakfield where the Oaks hosted the Thiensville-Mequon Twins. Oakfield was the last team in the Rock River League to see in 2026.
Through eight innings Oaks pitcher, Blaine Whalen, threw shutout ball by scattering 4 hits and issuing two walks. In the ninth, the Twins were able to assemble a single run against Whelan by getting a pair of singles and a walk to load the bases. An infield error brought across one run, but any further threat was squelched by a game ending double play.
Conversely, the Oaks made the most of their 8 hits, 5 walks, and an error. Scoring got started in the bottom of the 1st when a Nick Terrell doubled was followed by a single by Alex Ramus.
Th Twins continued their scoring with three in the 3rd. A pair of singles and an error led to the first run. A second run scored on a ground out, and the third run scored on a Garrett Sullivan double to right. Sullivan was thrown out at the plate when the next batter singled to left.
In the fifth, another run scored on a single and error that was preceded by a two out single.
Oakfield added a single tally in the 7th, and then two more in the 8th. The final two in the 8th scored on a walk and Brayden Eigenbordt home run to center.
Final score: Oakfield 8 – Thiensville-Mequon 1
